Mesothelioma is like any other cancer. If you get it early, survival rates are very high. Unfortunately, the opposite is true as well. The later you get it, the less likely you are to survive it. Another area that is getting attention are cancer vaccines. These vaccines are designed not to treat the cancer directly, but to try to hone the immune system. This is done by introducing parts of the cancer cell markers to the immune system in a way that the immune system can treat. The system then generates antibodies to attack those cells. These kill the cells in the vaccine, but also the cells generally in your body. It is a form of bait and switch that works very well in some cases.
